Rugby Borough Tournament 2024
Rugby Borough An end to our season with our final tournament of 2024.
We were at the fantastic Rugby Borough tournament on Sunday 30th June, playing 9-aside without any offside.
After a good group stage we finished second in the group behind the winners Walsall FC who we had a great final game with only to draw 0-0. We didn’t concede a goal in the group stages which is a great testament to the team. The Lionesses won 3 games which were vs Rugby Borough, AFC Barwell and Mawsley Thundercats, drawing games vs Crick Colts, Coventry Godiva & Walsall FC.
A great effort by all girls scoring 8 goals during the group games.
As per last year we were in the third place play off final, and unfortunately it wasn’t to be this year ! We played a well drilled Oadby & Wigston Vixens team who were just a little bit too much for us on the day as they won 2 -0.
Great team effort for a second week at a tournament, Emma was player of the tournament pipping others to the award with a hat trick in one of the games. All girls did themselves proud on the pitch and played some nice football. Time for a break now and get back together in August for some pre-season training and games.
