Another solid away performance - Cov City Blue Away - Sept 15th

Sun, 15 Sep 2024, 12:48

We continued our start to the season with our second away game this week vs Coventry City Blue U12’s.

After a solid away performance last week, we continued our good start to the season with another solid overall performance.

The first half was an even affair with both teams going full throttle into the game.   Our back 3 of Lacey, Peyton and Erin were solid in front of Bella who was aiming to keep her second clean sheet of the season.

Emma and Sophia were immense in the centre of midfield with strong tacking, great passing and really created a foothold in the game for us.  The work rate of both players really is the heartbeat of our team. Elysia, Mona and Gracie were on the wings and worked hard throughout the game.  One of our objectives to work on is to create real width to our play, encouraging our midfield to use the space in behind the full backs for our wingers to run into.  Was nice to see this being taken on board and trying this ball on a few occasions.

Layla worked hard as striker and was a constant threat marshalled by the Cov City defenders.  Some lovely footwork at times from Layla and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet in the first half.

Lacey had yet another great game at left back really solid and positive moving forwards in support of her wingers.

Peyton had her hands full marking a lively Cov City centre forward, but the birthday girl dealt with the threat superbly to earn the POM award.

Sophie earned the PPOM award for her work rate in a non stop midfield battle.

Myanna shared the right back spot with Erin and defended well when we had to deal with some pressure from Cov City.

We had one of two chances to score towards the end of the game but wasn’t to be and we were happy to come away with another positive result away from home.

Really pleased with the application of all players in our transition into 9 a side and offside rule.

Keep up the good work girls.

Away again next week at Sutton Coldfield.
