Point away from home !

Sat, 15 Mar 2025, 14:34

Away trip today for the Lionesses away to Leafield Athletic.

Having beaten Leafield earlier in the season, we were aware this was going to be a tough game.

We started the game really well with our packed midfield being in control of the early exchanges. Peyton, Gracie and Mayanna were in control of the defence and Erin taking on the gloves was vocal in goal and looking confident.

On the wings we had Elysia and Mimi pushing us forward at every opportunity, Emma and Sophia in the centre, supporting Layla who worked really hard upfront.

We took the lead through Emma charging down a clearance in Midfield and then running strongly into the box and finishing for her second goal in as many games on her return to the side after injury.

The girls were in control of the game, Erin made a couple of good saves in goal and we had some half chances to increase our lead but finished 0-1 at half time.

Second half was much the same as the first, Elysia had a great shot parried by the keeper which Layla just couldn’t convert due to the high bounce.

Leafield equalised from a corner which was scrambled in at the back post.

We could have won it but Rob and I were really happy with the girls effort and commitment today. Big shout out to Erin who stepped up to take on the gloves in place of Bella today.

POM – Mimi – backed up a really solid performance last week with the same again, always consistent in effort and her approach ! Great skills to have.

PPOM – Erin – for taking on the gloves confidently and doing her very best
