Another away point !

Sun, 23 Mar 2025, 12:58

Maypole away for the U12 Lionesses this week in Birmingham.

The 3G pitch was very fast and took a little while for the girls to get to grips with the change, but were soon playing well.

Erin again took the gloves and did well in goal when called upon, clearing when needed and handling well too.

Defence was looking solid with Mona in at right back, Captain Peyton in the centre and Lacey at left back.

Midfield was strong with Emma in the centre and Elysia and Sophia either side, and Layla and Mimi starting the game with two up top.

Once the girls got to grips with the surface we were playing some nice passing and making some nice movement off the ball which was great to see.

We took the lead from an old fashioned kick out of Erin’s hands down field bouncing high over the centre half allowing Mimi to react really well and slot home with a nice left foot finish.

It was a good game to watch with some good players in the opposition team doing really well.

Our second goal came via Emma, her 3rd in 3 games after some neat play on the right by Mona & Sophia to allow Emma to get a shot off into the bottom corner.

HT 0 – 2

The second half started end to end, but was overshadowed by a nasty injury to Sophia. Having tried to make a cross from the right she fell awkwardly on her arm and was in a lot of distress before making her way to hospital. Really unfortunate injury for Sophia who handled the stress of the situation really well, we wish her a full and speedy recovery ! We will miss you !!

The remainder of the game was all about the opponents trying to get back into the game, which they did manage to do near to the end securing a 2-2 draw.
