AWAY - U12's LIONESSES - vs Boldmere Falcons

Sat, 10 May 2025, 14:54

Following on from our midweek win, we faced top of the league Boldmere Falcons today who have won all their games this season.

Was a tough task ahead with the warm weather and only 9 players, but the girls did themselves and the club proud.

Lacey was carrying a knock and played the game in goal, and did superbly throughout with some good handling, communication and some great saves too ! Well don’t to Lacey !

We started the game well and our defence was holding a great line which gave us a more compact look. Gracie, Peyton and Mimi were great throughout the first half, handing the opponents attached pretty well.

Long throws were a key threat from the opposition, but Lacey and the team defended these really well.

Elysia, Emma and Mona were as always working hard in midfield against good opponents, was great to see. Layla and Erin worked hard up front to keep us up the pitch as much as possible.

We nearly went one up but Layla just couldn’t hit the target from a bouncing ball on a hard pitch. We then had a penalty saved by the keeper’s legs which was a great save, but frustrating for us not to be taking the lead.

Boldmere scored the opener near to the stroke of half time which was unlucky as we deserved to be level at the break.

Second half was much the same pattern of the first, good honest work from us keeping us in the game.

Emma was playing well in the centre of the park and was up against a tough opponent pushing us forward as much as possible to try and get the equaliser.

Defence was again solid in the second half, until the last 15 or so when the opponents scored three further goals when we had realistically ran out of steam without any subs.

Super proud of all the girls today for their team performance, we had compliments from the opposing team’s parents which was really nice to hear and receive.

We play our home fixture next week vs the same team so see how we fair next week !

Thanks as always to those supporting from the sidelines.

POM – EMMA - great battle in centre midfield and listened well during the game

PPOM – ERIN – but wanted to share this with Gracie as she felt Gracie had a great game (which I agree too)

Everyone should be proud of themselves today.
